Notification delivery
- Repeated deliveries are recognized by eventCode and pspReference; Adyen documents that notifications can be delivered more than once.
- Delivery order: not guaranteed by the provider.
- Make sure your webhook handler deduplicates on eventCode + pspReference before acting.
Known limitations
- API errors are categorized by errorType and HTTP status; individual errorCode values are not mapped yet.
- Only Standard payment webhooks are analyzed; other webhook families are recognized and explained.
- CAPTURE or REFUND with success=true means the request was processed, not that funds settled.
Examples
- Adyen: successful authorisation: A Standard webhook AUTHORISATION with success=true. The reason field with card summary is dropped.
- Adyen: declined authorisation: A Refused payment response and the matching AUTHORISATION webhook (Not enough balance).
- Adyen: authorisation, capture and refund: Modifications linked to the payment through originalReference.
- Adyen: duplicate and conflicting webhooks: A repeated AUTHORISATION and a CAPTURE delivered with both success=false and success=true.
- Adyen: possible duplicate charge: Two authorised payments for one merchantReference around an internal error.
